Material Flow Tracking in Production:

Tracking Containers and their Contents as a Unit

Material Flow Tracking: Can you provide automation-based assurance that the required raw materials are delivered to the relevant production stage? In the desired quantity and at the defined point in time? Container tracking is not only about "Track & Trace" of valuable capital goods in circulation.

Automatic identification and permanent tracking (material flow tracking) only increases efficiency if the load carriers are related, i.e. "married", to their corresponding load (in accordance with ERP). It is this "fixed connection" that ensures seamless, complete and transparent (replenishment) deliveries just-in-time in intralogistics and production through material flow tracking.
With Material Flow Tracking, you maintain real time control. By 'marrying' the materials and the container ID (RFID tag), you are able to automatically track and post the material in motion, in addition to automatic load carrier tracking. This is particularly applicable to parts and materials that cannot be tagged. An automatic replenishment control of this kind is a fundamental part of modern electronic KanBan solutions (pull systems), the eKanBan for your production 4.0.

Basis for material flow postings | Material Flow Tracking

  • The basis for subsequent registration processes is laid in the incoming goods area.
  • The corresponding "marriage" of the load carrier and the material data of its contents enables automatic material flow postings. For this purpose, the delivered goods are reloaded onto in-house RFID-tagged load carriers in the inbound area or repacked into corresponding KLT boxes (small load carriers).

Goods movements in the warehouse

  • Automatic receipt and issue postings in the warehouse based on the container ID
  • Here, additional and more fine-grained postings on storage bin level (per shelf, compartment number, etc.) may be necessary. In such cases, the hybrid solution of combining RFID identification with mobile registration terminals is recommended.

Optimised material flow through Material Flow Tracking

  • Plausibility check: Are the parts supplied in the container delivered correctly, are the batches and the quantities correct?

Keeping delivery guarantees

  • Material flow postings and plausibility check
  • Automatic identification and posting of finished goods to the finished goods warehouse for an on-time roll-out
  • 100% stock reliability through automatic registration, thus ensuring delivery reliability

Supplying customers correctly through Material Flow Tracking

  • Plausibility check: correct loading location (goods are loaded onto the designated truck)
  • Comparison with the loading order:
Loading control via RFID gates for quality assurance
  • Automatic material flow posting, error-free loading, without additional labour time expenditures
